Microsoft Australia drops prices on peripherals

Microsoft Australia has realigned the pricing structure of its PC hardware range, effective immediately.

The price drop covers select products across Microsoft’s range of mice, webcams, keyboards and Internet communication devices.

Sean Davis, sales director (AUS/NZ) of Microsoft’s Entertainment & Devices Division said the new recommended retail pricing framework allows retailers who stock its hardware range to maintain a competitive offering in a tough economic climate.

“We have a great range of products across various price-points and now with our new recommended retail pricing can offer an even more compelling value proposition for retailers to pass onto consumers across some of our best-selling products,” claimed Davis.

According to Davis the new pricing structure applies to products such as the Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 at the value-driven end of the price spectrum (now RRP$39.95 down from RRP $49.95) to the Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 for the features-driven consumer (now RRP $99.95 down from RRP $129.95).

In comparison, the Microsoft LifeCam Show – one of the slimmest webcams on the market – has dropped from an RRP of $179.95 to $149.95.

Price promotions will remain an effective component of Microsoft’s hardware retail strategy, in conjunction with the new pricing structure announced today, to continually increase consumer traffic and maximise retail sales.

Products with new RRPs include (but are not limited to):
• Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000 – $149.95 down from $179.95
